  Hafdal, Thomas "Tom"  Born Dec 31, 1948 in Alexandria MN died peacefully Sep. 16, 2012.
Tom is survived by brothers, Gary Hafdal, Jim (Wanda) Hafdal, Rich (Sheridan) Hafdal;  sister, Karen Bailey; many nieces, nephews &
   Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Art & Lois Hafdal.
   Tom was the light of our lives.
   The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Friendship Manor for providing a loving and caring home for Tom.  The family
would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and St Francis Hospital for the kind and thoughtful
care they gave to Tom.
   Services were held on Sat., Sept. 22 at 10am, at the Church of St Mary in Shakopee, MN.
   Memorials are preferred to Friendship Manor in Shkopee, MN.

  David  was born on October 11, 1949 to Waymon and Mayme (Bartz) Hanson in Alexandria, MN.
He was baptized and confirmed at Fahlun Lutheran Church and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967.
He lived in Minneapolis and later, Lake George for many years.
   He was a long time employee of U.S. Bank, formerly First Bank of Minneapolis.
He volunteered with The Aliveness Project of Minneapolis MN, the Red Ribbon Ride of Minnesota,
Rural AIDS action Network, and he spoke at high schools and other AIDS awareness activities.
   David died Sunday, May 15, 2011 aqt Neilson Nursing Home in Bemidji.
   Cecil Cheek was his life partner for 36 years.  He was co-parent to Michael Cheek, Todd Cheek,
Heather Cheek - all of Clayton, NC and Shannon Cheek of Garner, NC.  He had five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
   He is also survived by two brothers, Carl "Johnnie" (Vonnie) of Parkers Prairie MN, and Rick (Sherilyn) of Arden Hills MN;  sisters
Barb Sather (Gerald) of Nelson MN and Deb Theusch (Cliff) of Chippewa Falls WI;  and numerous nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, Waymon and Mayme and nephew, Tim Hanson.
   Memorial services were held at Fahlun Lutheran Church in rural Nelson on May 21 with Pastor Barbara Lund-Thompson officiating.

    Dennis Gilbert Hedstrom was born Spetember 27, 1947 in Alexandria, MN, the son of Gilbert (Gib) and Edvona (Burce) Hedstrom.  
He attended school in Alexandria and then worked on the iron range in Northern Minnesota.
   Dennis then returned to Alexandria and worked with his brother at the Bio Corporation.  He was self-employed as a reptile collector.  
Deer hunting and fishing were among his favorite hobbies.
   Dennis died August 7, 1998 at the age of 50.  [massive heart attack]
   He is survived by his former wife, Judith Hedstrom of Alex;  son, Brian Hedstrom of Alex;  daughter Beth Hedstrom of Alex;  three
sisters: Donna and husband Bob Thompson of Osakis;  Joyce and husband Larry Kennedy of Molokai, HI;  Shirley and husband Gary
Severson of Eagan;  brother Bennie and wife Sue Hedstrom of Alex; and two half brothers, Roger Hedstrom of Princeton;  and Frank
Montgomery who lives in Arkansas.
   Funeral services were held August 14, 1998 at Calvary Lutheran Church of Alexandria with Rev Keith Forrester officiating.  Music
was provided by Sandy Buckner.
   Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Terry Jung, Tom Rupert, Larry Rupert, Jeff Chan, Dan
Chounard, Gary Thompson, Al Scott, Jim Quinn and Judd Hoff.  Rueben Hedstrom was named honorary pallbearer.
   Arrangements werre with the Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria.

   Karen Elizabeth Hepper Common was born September 8 1949, and died December 26, 2011.  She was 62.
   She is survived by her three children, April, Mike and Lindasy;  four grandchildren; sister, Jaci Bateman; nieces and nephews;
as well as her longltime love, David Lario.
   Karen was born in Fargo, North Dakota to Alex and Letietia Hepper.  Kaern graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967.
She moved to Livermore, California in 1969, where whe raised her family and worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
until she reitred two years ago and moved to Oakdale, California.
   Karen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David and sister, Vicki.
   Arrangements were with Callaghan Mortuary in Livermore, California.

  Judy D (Wheeler) Straseske, 62 of Watertown, WI, formerly of Alexandria MN, passed away on Monday October 17, 2011 at the
University Hospital - Madison with her family at her side.
   Judy was born on July 17, 1949 in Holmes City, the daughter of Norman & Sylvia (Lokken) Hjelm.
   Judy was united in marriage on February 4, 1967 to LeRoy Wheeler and to this union were blessed with four children.
   Judy married Thomas Staseske on January 31, 2004 in Watertown.
   Judy worked in hotel management for 25 years in Alexandria and also provided daycare service in Watertown.  She was a
member of the Alexandria VFW Post Women's Auxillary.
   Loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who brought life, love and laughter to all.  WIth a zest for life like no other, she
loved dancing, entertaining, camping, canoeing, and watching sunsets with her husband at her home on the river.  She especially
loved spending time with her grandkids goofing around and laughing.  Judy also looked forward to the annual family reunion on
Lake Moses and the friendly, yet competitive golf scramble each year before the reunion.  She was known far and wide for her
exuberant hugs, which will be missed by all.
   Survivors include:  h)usgand, Thomas Staseske of Watertown;  daughter Angie (Tom) Salto of Alexandria;  son Mike (Tanya)
Wheeler of Buffalo; three stepsons: Erik Staseske of Watertown, Shane Staseske of Milwaukee and Lee Straseske of Lake Mills;
seven grandchildren, Blaine Wheeler, Brittany Tripp, Jasmine Everett, Chelsey Salto, Jon Salto, Lily Wheeler and Mason Wheeler;  two
step-grandchildren, Malakai Staseske and Bella Staseske;  great-grandson Aiden Flaherty;  four sisters, Doris (Del) Carter of Spring

   I was a special educaton teacher in Upsala and Little Falls for 34 years.  I retired from teaching in 2005 and then worked part-time
selling ads for an antiques newspaper.  My wife, Marlene, went back to college after a 35-yea break and got her bachelor's degree in
sociology in 2008.  After searching for a job in her field with out success, we made a decision to "live life differently" and
joined the
Peace Corps
.  We have been in the mid-east, living in the Muslim country of Jordan, since October, 2009.  We both teach at Mu'tah
Universiy, near Karak.  Marlene teaches work site dynamics, communication skills and English to classes and individuals.  I co-teach a
class about special education topics and help supervise students who are doing their practice teaching in resource rooms and centers.  
Jordan is a very interesting country ... lots of history and unique places to visit.  The poeple are wonderful, too.  Our service will end in
December, 2011 so we should be able to make it to the 45th class reunion ..  In sha'alla (God willing) !
 Goals:  Spend more time with family: travel more; write more

Hubred, Vicky L  [ Anderson ]
  Vicky Anderson was born on 9-9-1949, in Alexandria, MN to Jeul and Bernice Hubred. She attended school in Alexandria and was a
1967 graduate of Jefferson Senior High.  Vicky was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Calvary Lutheran Church in
   Vicky was united in marriage to Richard Anderson on 12-9-67.  The couple made their home in a variety of places including Minneapolis,
Alexandria and rural Long Priarie.
   Mrs. Anderson spent several years as a teacher's aide in Osakis before taking some time to participate in the family farm.  She later
returned to Washington Elementary school and her favorite type of employment, working with children as a teacher's aide.
   Vicky was always involved in her own children's activities throughout their school days and after.  She enjoyed working in very large
vegetable and flower gardens, bird watching,  card playing, socializing and baking goodies for the neighborhood.
   Mrs. Anderson died at the Osakis Community Memorial Home on 9-23-1999 with her family at her side.  She is survived by her
husband, Rich;  three children:  David and wife, Julie;  Kristy and husband, Doug Enloe;  Brian;  sister: Lola Berg;  brother: Gale Hubred;  
several nieces and nephews;  special friends:  Pam and Doug Sherman and many other good friends.
   She is preceded in death by her parents, Juel and Bernice;  brother Darrel;  and a twin brother and sister who died as infants.
   Funeral services were held on Monday, 9-27-1999, 11 AM at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Rev Calvert and Rev Erickson
officiating.  Musical selections were by Becky Worley and Harland Angen.
   Interment was at Kinkead Cemetaery in Alex.  Services were directed by Petermeier's Alexandria Funeral Home.
